A brief about Hessam

Hessam is an industrial ecology researcher and educator with a background in construction management and engineering. He was trained and worked as a post-doctoral associate in concrete sustainability hub (CSHub) and Materials Systems Lab (MSL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2018-2021.
His recent projects mainly focus on the circular economy and waste management. Also, Hessam has investigated the life cycle impacts of pavements and building sectors on a nationwide scale and assessed the implication of different solutions to meet climate change pledges. He has also performed a meta-analysis and harmonization of product category rules (PCRs) and environmental product declarations (EPDs) of construction materials.
Hessam was a research fellow at the University of Sherbrooke, Canada (2018-2019). He received his Ph.D. from the same university in Canada. His thesis is on the development of a dynamic consequential LCA framework for assessing the environmental impacts of pavements. His technical and academic backgrounds also include infrastructure construction and maintenance.
